Turanga Ararau was established as an Iwi Authority in 1986 to promote and support the iwi of Turanganui a Kiwa who are Rongowhakaata, Ngai Tamanuhiri and Te Aitanga A Mahaki.
Turanga Ararau is the Iwi tertiary education provider of Te Runanga o Turanganui a Kiwa, our rohe encompasses Turanganui a KIwa (Gisborne) and the western rural environments with a population of over 40,000 of whom 45% identify as Maori.
Turanga Ararau promotes and provides quality learning and employment programmes offering the skills, knowledge and qualifications necessary for iwi to manage, control and advance their cultural and economic resources.
Learning is a long process that enables our people to enhance and develop their skills, increase knowledge and thus reach their full potential.
