Pehimana Haapu (Pene) Brown has an extensive background in governance, working with a range of Māori organisations in the fields of, agriculture, horticulture, forestry, and health/social needs.
Pene is the Chair of Te Aitanga a Māhaki Trust and the Chair of Tūranga Health, a Māori health provider. He is a Trustee or Chair of various whanau, hapu/iwi, and Māori owned land blocks, here in Tūranga, Ngati Porou, and Whakatohea.
Pene and his family have farmed in Puha for four generations and his whanau marae is Tapuihikitia Marae. Pene has a Diploma in Agriculture and has completed the Kellogg Rural Leadership Course (Lincoln University) and the Institute of Directors (IOD) Company Directors’ Course
