Transit New Zealand gets into the swing of Te Reo Maori with its new welcome signs at the city's Makaraka gateway.  The signs helps pave a bilingual path to Gisborne.  The sign on the other side carries its English name.

Transit New Zealand Hawke's Bay regional manager Hilton Netterville said the new signs replaced  the previous Haere Mai to Gisborne signs, which were a mix of two languages.

After comment from iwi, Transit decided to get it right by having bilingual signage - one on each side of the road.
